The Power Of A Word (Essay)

In the Begining was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. John 1:1 Words are at the start of nearly everything we do. Every relationship begins with words. Words are needed to sustain it. And words can make or break the success of that relationship. Every thought, feeling, emotion, or dream can be expressed with words. A single word has the power to evoke tears, laughter, or anger. Then there is THE word. God's word. His love letters to His people. A few simple words spoken in void and darkness created the incredible world we see around us. Words carved in stone by the hand of God. Words out of the mouth of babes. Words that healed sick, mad, dying, dead. The words "it is finished" spoken on the cross from the lips of our Lord saved us and brought us into his everlasting kingdom. After rising again, Jesus spoke to his disciples. In Acts 2, God gave new words to His people as evidence that He is still with us. Around the throne room of God, we read in revalations, the elders are speaking words of praise and affirmation to God. Words! Words! Incredible words! Life and death are contained in the tongue. Words! The most powerful means of communication, and God gave us power over them! What responsibility we have in this. To be able to build up or tear down. I am seeking not to take advantage of this power, to use ut to the glory of God. Would you join me?
